Performance Information
The GRAMMY Award-winning Parker Quartet brings their celebrated "fearless, yet probingly beautiful" performance to CMM's stage. Their interpretation of Beethoven's taut, enigmatic Serioso Quartet reveals the revolutionary spirit that defined the First Viennese School. Paul Wiancko's Strange Beloved Land — written expressly for the Parker Quartet — offers a deeply personal tribute to the composer's late father, drawing its evocative title from a documentary about his travels in Romania. The program closes with Brahms's sunlit Third Quartet, a work of wit and warmth whose rhapsodic slow movement and folk-inflected finale showcase the ensemble's full expressive range. __ Pre-Concert Talk with Jonathan Palevsky at 6:30PM__
The Program
Beethoven: String Quartet in F minor, Op. 95 “Serioso”
Wiancko: Strange Beloved Land (written for Parker Quartet)
Brahms: Quartet No. 3 in B-flat major, Op. 67
