Performance Information

Climb aboard for an imaginative musical journey with Poulenc Trio, featuring Chamber Music Maryland Artistic Director Irina Kaplan Lande. For more than two decades, the Poulenc Trio has redefined chamber music for the distinctive combination of oboe, bassoon, and piano. One of the most active touring ensembles of its kind, the Trio has performed across the United States and at major festivals around the world. Poulenc Trio has earned critical acclaim for performances marked by elegance, lightness, and grace. The group also has commissioned more than 22 new works, greatly expanding the repertoire for this unusual and expressive combination of instruments.

At the center of the program is Viet Cuong’s Trains of Thought, a kinetic work commissioned by and written for the ensemble that captures the energy, motion, and unexpected turns of a mind in constant movement. Jakov Jakoulov’s colorful Yiddish Lexicon, written for Poulenc and with accompanying drawings by students from Maryland Institute College of art, is another shining example of the intersection of visual art and music. Known for redefining piano-wind chamber music, Poulenc Trio brings virtuosity, wit, and unmistakable personality to every performance.

Join us after the concert for a sweets-and-wine reception with Poulenc Trio.
